Jennifer McPherson

Jennifer McPherson holds a Master of Music degree in Historical Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. As a student at Oberlin, she studied organ with Jonathan Moyer and harpsichord with Webb Wiggins. Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. At Holy Cross, she was the recipient of a full-tuition scholarship and studied as Organ Scholar of the class of 2013 with James David Christie. Throughout high school, Jennifer studied organ with Abbey Hallberg-Siegfried, and was a founding participant with The Young Organist Collaborative of New Hampshire.

As a recitalist, Jennifer McPherson has performed throughout the United States, including Church of the Covenant in Cleveland, OH, and Old West Church and King’s Chapel in Boston, MA. Last summer, she was featured on the 2014 Organ Recital Series at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall in Methuen, MA. She has performed as organist on concert tours of Ireland and Prague with the Boston College University Chorale under music director John Finney. She has also performed as a free-lance organist with the Newton Choral Society and the Heritage Chorale.

During the summers of 2012 and 2013, Jennifer studied harpsichord and continuo with Lisa Crawford and Webb Wiggins at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. She has also participated in organ and harpsichord masterclasses with Hank Knox, Olivier Latry, Marie-Louise Langlais, Gerre Hancock, John Grew, Jan Overduin, Paul Jacobs, Harald Vogel, and Douglas Major. At the age of 21, Jennifer was awarded Third Prize in the prestigious 2012 International Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck Organ Competition held at Sweelinck’s church, the Oude Kerk, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In the summer of 2013, she won first prize in the AGO Quimby Region I competition, representing the Boston chapter, and was featured as a Rising Star at the National AGO Convention in 2014. In the spring of 2015, Jennifer was selected to perform with her ensemble at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Jennifer is currently employed as Assistant Organist and Music Intern at Church of the Covenant in Cleveland, OH.
